According to the police, the 17-year-old allegedly hacked to death a 24-year-old hardware shop salesman, Hemanth, on July 31 along with his four associates - who are all juveniles.

“The juvenile is studying in first PUC. He got influenced by other rowdies and was leaning towards the same. He got involved with people who are into such crimes. He wanted to create an image for himself and ended up murdering Hemanth,” Chandrappa, an officer at Anekal police station said.

“He just wanted to kill someone in order to get such a reputation. He was ready to murder anyone to achieve this,” Chandrappa added.

The 17-year-old student and another accused, identified as Akash (19), have been arrested and efforts are on to nab the other three suspects at the earliest, the police officer said. All the five accused are juveniles and knew each other.

Anekal police confronted Akash as he tried to evade arrest near Vanakanahalli in Anekal at around 9:45 am on Sunday. “Even after the warning, Akash tried to escape and attacked the constable with a knife. The sub inspector then shot him in the leg,” Chandrappa added.

The police have booked the accused under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, Bengaluru police arrested 11 men in connection with the brutal murder of a notorious history-sheeter in the city on Sunday night, officials said.

According to officials, the suspects have been identified as Siddapura Sunil, Kannan, Vela, Pradeep, Manu, Grace Walter, Srinivas alias Papa, Gokul, Suresh, Karthik and Vaale Praveena. The suspects were picked up from Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

The police are also questioning the involvement of another rowdy sheeter Wilson Garden Naga and his accomplice Mohana alias ‘Double Meter’ in the murder. Gangster Mahesh N alias Siddapura Mahesh (35), was hacked to death on August 4 within hours of his release from the Bengaluru Central Jail at Parappana Agrahara.
