Salah, who continues to produce at a very high level at the tip of Jurgen Klopp’s team, was linked with a move to Al Ittihad.

In a statement that will greatly please the Liverpool faithful, Mohamed Salah’s commitment to the Merseyside club has been re-confirmed after some fears that the Egyptian winger would follow in the footsteps of his former frontline teammates in a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Salah, who continues to produce at a very high level at the tip of Jurgen Klopp’s team, was linked with a move to Al Ittihad which would see him earn 180 million euros, as per Al-Riyadiah. With Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and striker Roberto Firmino already confirming moves to the Pro League, there might have been concerns over Salah potentially moving for the paycheck as well as the proximity to his homeland of Egypt.

Salah remains committed to Liverpool

Nevertheless, Salah’s commitment and faith in Liverpool was renewed through a tweet released by his agent, Ramy Abbas. On Twitter, the agent wrote: “If we considered leaving Liverpool this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract at the club last summer. Mohamed remains committed to Liverpool.”

Salah penned an extension to his contract at Liverpool in 2022, making this the seventh season he will spend at Anfield. It is a spell which has seen him win every trophy on offer in English football, including spearheading Liverpool’s return to the top table of the sport with victories in the Premier League and Champions League.

On a personal level, Salah has turned into one of the best players and most prolific goalscorers in the world, winning two Premier League golden boots over the course of his career.

Despite the Red’s subpar season last year, Salah continued to shine in his role at the front of the line, and will be a hugely significant player once more as Jurgen Klopp’s team depends on a powerful front-line to keep them in the hunt for silverware.

Alongside Firmino, the last member of their historical troika in Sadio Mane also left for the Pro League, having spent the previous season at Bayern Munich. Salah is now surrounded by outstanding but raw talent in Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz, but is the veteran and leader of a group attempting to emulate the success of recent years at Anfield.

The 2023/24 season signals the latest phase in Klopp’s decade-long tenure in the northwest of England, but the persistent threat and goalscoring quality Salah provides will remain at his disposal. The Reds open their season with a huge match against Chelsea, but will be hungry to prove that they are title challengers once again after a relatively quiet year.
