Ulhasnagar furniture foam factory gutted in fire, no casualties

According to fire brigade officials, the fire was noticed when workers were doing welding work in the factory around 2.30 pm. Furniture foam and other furniture materials were stored in the warehouse above the factory, and the fire spread across the factory in no time

Thane: A fire broke out at a furniture foam factory in Ulhasnagar on Monday afternoon. 10 fire vehicles were pressed into service to bring the fire under control after three hours of firefighting, officials said.

The officials are further investigating the cause of the fire. The factory was gutted in fire within an hour. The incident took place in a foam manufacturing factory located next to Pinto Park Hotel in Ulhasnagar Camp No.3. As soon as the fire incident was reported, the fire brigade of Ulhasnagar municipal corporation, along with 10 vehicles of Kalyan Dombivli municipality and Ambernath MIDC rushed to the spot.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire was noticed when workers were doing welding work in the factory around 2.30 pm. Furniture foam and other furniture materials were stored in the warehouse above the factory, and the fire spread across the factory in no time. The owner, Manish Kukreja, lost lakhs of rupees of material in the fire.

“The fire was massive, and therefore we had to deploy 10 fire engines. No one suffered any injuries. Although welding work was going on, further investigations are on to determine the actual cause of the fire,” said a fire brigade officer.
