Plant to convert wet waste to gas set to be operational in Delhi in March ’24

On July 27, the New Delhi Municipal Council cleared the transfer of 5 acre land in Okhla to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)

Delhi government launches portal for ‘green internships’

Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai has launched a new portal for internships with the Delhi government in the fields of environment and forest. The portal aims to make youth aware of the functioning of the forest and wildlife department and to contribute to the ecological security of Delhi. The government has a plantation target of 5.2 million saplings this year.

Excise licence process for Delhi hotels, bars tweaked

Applications of those seeking an excise license will go to the licensing authority only two times instead of four, officials said. This will prevent redundancy in the process, thereby saving time

3 Delhi railway stations set for overhaul

Northern Railway will redevelop 71 railway stations as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with a total of 508 stations across the country set to be revamped. The project will include the removal of unwanted structures, improved lighting, upgraded parking spaces, and environmentally friendly buildings. The stations will also feature local art and culture through graffiti. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the project on 6 August. Meanwhile, the Railway Land Development Authority has held a pre-bid meeting for the redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station.

These include three stations in Delhi — Narela, Sabzi Mandi and Delhi Cantt, and 11 others in the National Capital Region . (AFP)

ED arrests OMR scanning firm director in Haryana PSC exam fraud case

Ashwani Kumar alias Ashwani Sharma was taken into custody on August 2 and a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court located in Panchkula sent him to five days of ED custody on Thursday, it said in a statement.
