Rahul Gandhi's no-confidence motion speech LIVE: The no confidence motion against the Modi government is Opposition's bid to force the PM to speak on Manipur.

Rahul Gandhi No Confidence Motion Debate News: Rahul Gandhi will begin the no-confidence motion debate against the Narendra Modi government in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, following his return to Parliament a day before, after nearly four months. A Surat court in Gujarat had awarded the former Congress chief a two-year sentence in the criminal defamation case in March, which led to his disqualification as a lawmaker. Other than Gandhi, Gaurav Gogoi and Manish Tewari will be the other speakers from the Congress, sources said. The motion will run for three days till Thursday, during which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to reply on the last day.

The motion was tabled against the government after the Opposition failed to receive PM Modi's statement to both Houses on the violence-hit Manipur, which it had been demanding since the monsoon session began on July 20. Although the no-confidence motion is bound to fail the numbers test, the Opposition is counting on winning the battle of perception among the public by cornering the government on the Manipur crisis.
