According to the police, they received information about the rape of a 6-year-old after which police reached the spot and met the survivor
Two cases of minor girls being raped were registered in northeast Delhi on Friday, the Delhi Police said on Saturday.
According to the police, the first incident happened in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur area on Saturday. A 6-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour, police said, adding that they have not arrested the suspect yet. Deputy commissioner of police (north-east) Joy Tirkey said that the suspect has been identified and will be arrested soon.
According to the police, they received information about the rape of a 6-year-old after which police reached the spot and met the survivor. The minor told the police that she had gone outside to play and the accused who runs a flour mill in the area lured her to a secluded place where he raped her. The girl was then taken for medical examination.
A case under sections 376 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act was registered. “The accused is absconding and teams are looking for him,” a police officer aware of the matter said.
The second incident happened in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park on July 18 and the matter was reported to the police on Friday. Police said that a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour, adding that the suspect has been arrested and identified as Sahil, 21.
The girl told police that on the day of the incident, she had gone to a shop close to her house to buy a packet of chips. When she was returning home, the man stopped her, lured her to a secluded place, and raped her, police said.
The matter was reported to the police later because the suspect’s family allegedly threatened the survivor’s family to not share the matter with authorities, police added.
