Thirty-eight students from a Vasai-based college are still awaiting results for one subject, despite the University of Mumbai declaring results 25 days ago. The students are approaching the deadline to apply for postgraduate courses. The university claims it has not received the answer sheets, while the examination center insists they have already been submitted. The university says it is possible the answer sheets were not scanned due to errors and will manually find them if provided with the students' attendance sheet.

Thirty-eight students from a Vasai-based college, who had written the exams for third-year Bachelor of Arts (TYBA) in English literature, are still awaiting the results for one subject even though University of Mumbai (MU) declared the results 25 days ago.

Worse, these students are barely seven days away from the deadline to apply for postgraduate courses.

These students appeared for their TYBA examination in April at an examination centre in Vasai, results for which were declared on July 14.

“When we saw our results online, we were shocked as scores for the subject ‘16th to 18th century English literature’ were reserved,” a student said. To understand the reason, the students approched the university.

“MU officials claimed the university had not received the answer sheets from the examination centre. When we reached out to the examination centre, officials told us that the answer sheets had already been submitted to the university,” another student said.

These students even approached their graduating college, but the administration also failed to help them.

Meanwhile, MU sources said in total, 900 students’ results are reserved due to various reasons. “The reasons include wrong bubbling or wrong seat number on the answer sheet, or a mistake in the barcode. We also withhold the results if ATKT (allowed to keep terms) has not been cleared,” an official said.

Speaking about the 38 students, the official said, “There was no case of answer sheets being misplaced, but there might be chances of answer sheets not being scanned due to some errors. If students provide us with their attendance sheet, we will manually find the answer sheet, and if it was assessed by an examiner, we will immediately declare the result.”
