According to Dadar Government Railway Police (GRP) officers, the woman was travelling in the Udyan Express from Pune to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in the ladies compartment next to the motorman’s cabin. The incident occurred at around 8.27pm when the train reached the busy Dadar station.

The officers said that as the train started moving, a man wearing a red and white checked shirt and pants, boarded the ladies compartment. As the woman stood near the door to get off, the accused, identified as Manoj Chowdhary, molested the victim and tried to snatch her blue backpack. When she resisted, Chowdhary pushed her off the running train.

The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital. After getting discharged, she approached the police on Monday morning. Based on her complaint the police registered a case of attempt to murder, robbery and molestation against the accused.

The police officers scanned the CCTV of the Dadar and CSMT stations and identified the accused. The police arrested Chowdhary on Monday evening. “We have arrested Chowdhary and are investigating the case further,” said a police officer from Dadar GRP.
